(01) The Challenge

Personalised books that aren't actually personal.

The personalised children's book market is full of templates. They swap a name and maybe a hair colour into pre-drawn illustrations. The child never truly sees themselves on the page.

Parents want meaningful gifts that make their child feel seen. Grandparents want heirloom keepsakes. Both are stuck choosing between generic template books and hand-illustrated commissions that cost thousands.

AI image generation had just crossed into print-quality territory. Character consistency across multiple pages was now possible. The gap between what parents wanted and what technology could deliver had finally closed.

(02) The Solution

One photo in. A whole storybook out.

Four art styles. Same child on every page.

Parents upload one photo and choose from Pixar, Watercolour, Disney, or Ghibli illustration styles. The AI generates every page with the child's real face maintained across different scenes and compositions.

The transformation showcase auto-rotates through styles, showing the same child rendered in each. Parents see the cover before they pay. No risk.

(03) The Marketing

Zero competitors bidding. We took the whole market.

Google Ads: uncontested AU market

We researched every personalised children's book keyword in Australia. Not a single competitor was running Search ads. Wonderbly, Dinkleboo, Imagitime — none of them were bidding on their own brand terms in AU.

We built a campaign with 18 exact-match keywords across three ad groups: core terms, competitor brands, and occasions. Forecast CPC of $1.80 AUD against a $67 gross margin per book. Profitable from month one.

Meta Ads: 57 competitor ads dissected

We analysed 57 live Meta ads from 8 competitors using Foreplay and Gemini video analysis. Mapped every creative format to conversion tiers. Built a hook swipe file with 25+ proven openers.

The winning format across every competitor: UGC child reaction videos. The longest-running ad in the category had been live for 388 days. We identified three creative gaps no competitor was using.

Pricing Architecture

Three tiers, 75% margins

Paperback ($69), Hardcover ($89), and Gift Edition ($119). The $89 hardcover is the anchor — validated by Imagitime's 150K customers at the same price point. Gift Edition captures high-WTP grandparents by bundling $50 of add-ons for $30 more.

Content Engine

32 pages, zero keyword difficulty

Built 30+ SEO pages: competitor comparisons, gift guides, occasion pages, age-based pages, and therapeutic content. Every target keyword has zero difficulty in AU. Estimated 1,200-1,900 organic visits/month by month 12.
